Therapy session fees at Insightful Journey Psychotherapy in Oshawa typically range from $160 to $255, depending on the type of therapy, session length, and the therapist you are working with.

Fees may vary based on factors such as individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, or extended session lengths. Full fee details are available during your consultation or through our online booking system


The standard therapy session length is 50 minutes for both individual therapy and couples therapy.

Clients may also choose extended 75-minute sessions when additional time is helpful for deeper therapeutic work or more complex concerns.

Family therapy sessions are typically 75 minutes to allow sufficient time for discussion, collaboration, and shared understanding among family members.


Most clients begin therapy with weekly sessions, especially during the early stages of treatment. This allows enough time to build momentum, develop coping strategies, and explore concerns more deeply.

Your therapist will not share your personal information without your consent except in limited situations required by law, such as concerns related to safety or risk of harm. These confidentiality guidelines will be explained clearly during your first session so that you feel informed and comfortable.

At Insightful Journey, a consultation is a brief, optional conversation designed to help you determine whether therapy with our team feels like the right fit. Consultations are typically 15 minutes and may take place by phone or secure video.

During this conversation, you may briefly share what brings you to therapy and what you hope to work on. Your therapist may ask a few questions to understand your concerns and explain their therapeutic approach. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about the therapy process, scheduling, or areas of specialization.

The consultation is not a full therapy session. Its purpose is to help you feel informed and comfortable before beginning therapy. If it feels like a good fit, you can then schedule your first session.


If you decide to begin therapy after your consultation, the next steps are simple.

You will:

  1. Complete the required consent and intake forms
  2. Schedule your first therapy session

This process ensures your care begins in a way that is confidential, personalized, and aligned with professional ethical standards.


The first therapy session focuses on getting to know you and understanding your goals for therapy. Your therapist will begin by reviewing consent and confidentiality information to ensure you feel informed and comfortable with the process.

During the session, your therapist may ask questions about your current concerns, personal background, relationships, stressors, and any previous experiences with therapy. This helps create a clearer understanding of what you are experiencing and how therapy can best support you.

Together, you and your therapist may begin identifying goals for therapy, areas of focus, and possible approaches that may be helpful moving forward. The first session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and become familiar with the therapeutic process.

Therapy moves at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and the focus of the first session is to begin building a safe, collaborative therapeutic relationship.


There is no special preparation required before your first therapy session. Many people find it helpful to reflect on what has been bringing them stress, what changes they would like to see in their life, or any questions they may want to ask their therapist.

You do not need to organize your thoughts perfectly before arriving. Your therapist will help guide the conversation and create a comfortable space for you to share at your own pace.


Many extended health insurance plans in Canada cover psychotherapy services provided by Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Social Workers. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm whether your plan includes coverage for these services.

Insightful Journey now offers direct billing for select insurance providers where available. If direct billing is not available for your specific plan, you will receive a detailed receipt after your session that can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement.


To support fairness and availability for all clients, Insightful Journey requires at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.

If less than 48 hours’ notice is provided, or if a session is missed, the full session fee will be charged to the card on file.

This policy helps maintain scheduling consistency and ensures appointment availability for clients seeking support.


Payments for therapy sessions at Insightful Journey are processed securely using major credit cards.

Payments are automatically processed at the start of each session for convenience.

All financial information is handled with strict privacy and security standards to protect your personal information.

We offer in-person therapy in Oshawa as well as secure virtual therapy sessions across Ontario.


Our building entrance remains locked at all times for security.

When you arrive at the main door, you will see a QR code posted at the entrance. Please scan the QR code using your phone camera to access the building directory. From the directory, locate Insightful Journey and select the option to call or message. This will notify our team, and we will unlock the door remotely.

Once the door is unlocked, it will remain open for approximately 9 seconds. You may hear a sound indicating the door has been released. Please open the door promptly.

After entering the building, walk toward the elevator area. On the right-hand side, you will see a short set of steps leading to the Insightful Journey office.

When entering the office, we kindly ask that you remove your shoes. Your therapist will greet you at your scheduled appointment time.
