Direct billing for insurance

What Direct Billing Means

Direct billing allows us to submit your insurance claim directly to your provider at the time of your session, so you do not have to submit receipts manually. Whether a claim is approved depends on your individual plan and provider. Please note that not all insurance providers are supported through the TELUS eClaims system, and coverage varies by plan. 


Direct billing is available for sessions with Simar & Lenore only. For sessions with our associate therapists— payment is collected by credit card at the time of your session. A receipt will be provided automatically, which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement if your plan includes coverage for psychotherapy services.


Direct billing is not available for Canada Life; clients are provided with receipts to submit for reimbursement.

Adding Your Insurance Information

Clients are encouraged to log into their Insightful Journey client portal and add their insurance information to their profile before their next session. 

If you prefer, you are welcome to bring your insurance details to your appointment and we can assist you at that time. Please note that if this is done during a session, a portion of your appointment time may be used to complete the process.

Credit Card on File

A credit card on file is still required for all client accounts. 


This supports situations where:

  • A client may not have insurance coverage
  • Insurance plans only cover a portion of the session fee
  • Insurance benefits may have already been used for the year
  • Claims may occasionally be declined by the insurance provider for reasons outside the clinic’s control
  • Your insurance plan may not be supported through TELUS eClaims
  • In case of no-shows, late cancellations, or rescheduled sessions with less than 48 hours’ notice, these fees are not covered by insurance and will be charged directly to the card on file
  • If direct billing is not available or a claim is declined, the card on file may be used to process the session fee. You will still receive a receipt that can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement when applicable.
